Walküre (Romanov x Donnerschwee), the horse with which Dana van Lierop won individual silver and gold at the European Championship for young riders in 2015, has passed away. The Oldenburger mare was seventeen years old.
Emma-Lou Becca, the last horsewoman of Walküre, announced the mare’s death on her Instagram account. Walküre came under the saddle of the Luxembourg rider in 2018. Together they rode a few international competitions for the juniors in 2018 and 2019 and one international competition for the young riders in 2019. Last year, Becca announced the mare’s sporting retirement.

She was then ridden by Jochen Arl and Alizee Froment, before Dana van Lierop took over the reins. Dana Van Lierop had an extremely successful period with Walküre, including victories in Roosendaal, Wellington and Nieuw en St. Joosland. The highlight was team silver and individual silver and gold at the European Championships in Vidauban.
