Melissa Janssen five times on stage at CPEDI3* Riesenbeck

“Tears in my eyes”

Last weekend Melissa Janssen, Yvette Overgoor and Annemarieke Nobel came to the start at the CPEDI3* in Riesenbeck. The Para-amazons won gold with the team. Yvette scored a hattrick and Melissa even finished on the podium five times.

Team gold

Melissa Janssen has been on the podium before, but this weekend she accomplished five stage results with her two horses. “Already from day one, my teammate Yvette set a fixed score, which Annemarieke and I could connect to. The tone was set and all three of us wanted to go for it: team gold! The teaming really came up and defending our national flag was a huge honor,” said Melissa.

Satisfaction all over

“Seeing my two horses Dreamy-Boy and Royal Rubinstein grow over the last few months gives me such wonderful satisfaction. It’s hard for me to describe my emotions, but what my horses have done for me this weekend is incredible. Dreamy-Boy achieved two podium places; the third and fifth place in the final qualify. Royal Rubinstein took second place in the individual test, making him eligible to start in the freestyle, on Sunday. It was really goosebumps in the freestyle. He danced through the arena and took me into his story. As a result, we finished in second place with no less than 74.65%. I really had tears in my eyes!”

Former European young riders champion Walküre passed away

Walküre (Romanov x Donnerschwee), the horse with which Dana van Lierop won individual silver and gold at the European Championship for young riders in 2015, has passed away. The Oldenburger mare was seventeen years old.

Emma-Lou Becca, the last horsewoman of Walküre, announced the mare’s death on her Instagram account. Walküre came under the saddle of the Luxembourg rider in 2018. Together they rode a few international competitions for the juniors in 2018 and 2019 and one international competition for the young riders in 2019. Last year, Becca announced the mare’s sporting retirement.

Dana van Lierop

Walküre started her career under the saddle of Thomas Goedemé and then came under the saddle of Stella Hagelstam. She was then ridden by Jochen Arl and Alizee Froment, before Dana van Lierop took over the reins. Dana Van Lierop had an extremely successful period with Walküre, including victories in Roosendaal, Wellington and Nieuw en St. Joosland. The highlight was team silver and individual silver and gold at the European Championships in Vidauban.

Thomas Goedemé leaves for Gestüt Peterhof.

Two days ago it was announced that Thomas Goedemé is leaving for Germany.

Thomas was invited by Arlette Jasper Kohl and Prof. Erwin Kohl (owners at Gestüt Peterhof) for a three-day try out at their magnificent domain in Perl (Saarland). Thomas was being closely watched by Mrs. A.J. Kohl, Patrik Kittel (Olympic Grand Prix Rider), Sacha Schulz (Grand prix participant W

EG) and trainer Ulrike Lautemann.

Gestüt Peterhof and Mrs. A.J. Kohl made Thomas a proposition that he naturally agreed upon.

I am very grateful for the opportunity that Gestüt Peterhof has been offering me. It’s certainly not going to be easy. Being employed in a team like this is quite a challenge. Precision and perfection are expected. The next years will cost a lot of sweat and tears, but that’s part of the job. If I want to grow as a dressage rider I need to work day and night, and show them I’m willing to go for it.

At Gestüt Peterhof, Thomas will be full-time dressage rider under guidance and supervision of Mrs A.J.Kohl, Patrik Kittel, Sascha Schulz and trainer Ulrike Lautemann.

Sezuan  Astonishing Horse ( Blue Horse Zack x Blue Horse Don Schufro )

Sezuan is very present. Seeing the ruling world champion at it’s finest work is not nothing. He’s a beautiful black horse. Never before have I seen a horse with both potential and talent. Sezuan really owns it all!  Gestüt Peterhof has some offspring running from their own Sezuan. And I have to say the talent is also very present.
